Our Story

Derek Mitchell FieldMetrix was started by Derek and Carole Mitchell in Janurary 2008. We are a husband-and-wife team (yes it is possible). A little background about how we were inspired to start FieldMetrix. In April 2001 I started a Pocket PC development community called DEVBUZZ.COM which became a leading resource for Pocket PC, and later Windows Mobile development information. This lead to a large number of consulting engagements in many different industry segments.

It was after developing the same mobile architecture for the "umpteenth" time that we were inspired to create FieldMetrix. Now our clients can leverage a tried and tested mobile architecture allowing them to quickly ramp up their field based data capture and concentrate on their business rather than embarking on an expensive and time consuming mobile development project (which is our business). FieldMetrix is priced using an inexpensive Software as a Service (SaaS) model.

Carole Mitchell Carole comes from a development and SQL Server DBA background. Carole is one of the few people that can write recursion routines correctly on her first attempt. She worked for Hewlett Packard in the US and has been designing and developing Windows Mobile applications for 8 years.
